William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564 and is considered to be one of the greatest playwrights and writer of all time. He first became famous as a poet and it wasn’t long before his incredible reputation also included plays that are to this day performed and honored all over the world. The works of Shakespeare have a way of bringing out the best in each performer who steps on the stage thus providing some of the most gripping, emotional, funny and riveting performances that exist in the world of theatre. It is because of this and to provide the communities in the Hudson Valley of New York great summer entertainment that the Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison, NY present the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.
The 2014 season is bringing three fantastic plays to the stage: Othello by William Shakespeare, The Two Gentlemen of Verona by William Shakespeare and The Liar by David Ives, adapted from the comedy by Pierre Corneille. Top-notch talented actors and actresses meet under the tent of an open-air theatre with breathtaking scenery all around. There might not be much that can match enjoying an amazing performance amidst the backdrop of the Hudson Highlands.
