Art in the Wild at Hudson Highlands Nature Museum

It can be a bit of a downer to see the days of summer start to pass away. Wherever your adventures have taken you, we hope that your heart is full of memories to cherish for years to come. While there are the beginning signs of Autumn in the air, summer isn’t over yet! If you have some weekend time left, we invite you to come to our neck of the woods and check out Art in the Wild at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum. A night or two at an award winning New York country inn in the heart of the lower Hudson Valley, a day at a fantastic museum plus a host of other activities and restaurants at your fingertips…sounds like a perfect weekend, doesn’t it?

Held on weekends until August 31, 2014, Art in the Wild is a unique outdoor exhibit in which twelve artists have come together to create a display unlike any other. The purpose behind this event is to instill a love and appreciation for art and nature in all who come to visit. Daniel Mack, an artist who has worked with trees and natural materials for years is the curator for this exhibit and the theme is CYCLES. There are twelve different installations carefully placed around the Museum’s Pond Trail. As you stroll along you will encounter hidden birdbaths, over-size insects, an interactive human-scale

sundial, deer heads hidden in the foliage, hand-painted tree stumps that invite you to take a rest and more. It is a special experience to see such unique and creative man-made objects mingle with the natural world. These naturally inspired trailside creations are truly one-of-a-kind.
